Many people are responding to the tragedies in Haiti and Chile with an outpouring of love and support. Perhaps you are asking what you can do to help. First and foremost, we ask for you to continue to pray for the relief efforts in both countries that have been devastated by the earthquakes.
If you want to send a donation, here are several organizations:
Brethren Disaster Ministries - Contribute online to the relief effort, post prayers, and get news updates. Also learn about Gifts of the Heart Hygiene Kits and School Kits which are in large demand.
Mennonite Central Committee - "Relief, development, and peace in the name of Christ." Donations accepted online or by mail.
Feed My Sheep (Haiti) - You can contribute to Feed My Sheep Ministries (sponsored by Lititz Church of the Brethren) in Montrouis, which is 70 miles north of Port-au-Prince. Make your check payable to "Feed My Sheep Ministries" and send it to Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, PA 17543. (Please be sure to make it out to "Feed my Sheep Ministries" and NOT to the church.) You will receive a receipt for tax purposes. The money you contribute will go directly to this community and stay there to assist in their continuing education and care as well as feed additional refugees who are pouring into this community from Port au Prince.
