Zoom Sunday School – The Wired Word and electives--Fellowship Hall
Sunday morning elective classes and weeknight book studies are approved by the Christian Education Action Team and the pastoral staff. All are invited to take advantage of these opportunities to learn and grow together. Zoom links appear in our Wednesday Observer or our Friday worship email.
Sunday School Electives may be a one-time informational session to learn about ministries of the church; or they may be sessions lasting several weeks to explore, discuss and reflect on topics that impact our lives today as followers of Jesus in the 21st century. There is no need to pre-register, unless otherwise indicated.
Here are the current electives being planned and the dates they are being offered:
By the Way: Getting Serious about Following Jesus by Derek Vreeland, Our Spring Book Study: Our discipleship book study began Sunday, March 10. We have selected By the Way: Getting Serious about Following Jesus by Derek Vreeland, discipleship pastor at Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, MO.
Several of our adult Sunday School classes will be using the book chapter by chapter for 10 weeks. Those classes will find their copies in their classrooms this Sunday. If your class is not participating in this study, but you would like to join the Elective Class in the Fellowship Hall for some or all of the weeks of discussion lead by Pastor Jim and Lisa Krieg, you are welcome to join. You can pick up a copy of the book in the office.
The themes of our worship services during this 10-week study will follow the book, including the chapters Cruciform: The Way of the Cross; Life: The Way of Resurrection; Gathering: The Way of Community; and Justice: The Way of Reconciliation.
Lay-led Book Studies are offered on Zoom on weeknights periodically during the year. They are times for discussion, reflection and sharing centered around a book. For information on registering for a book study contact the church office or the contact person listed with the book study.
Pastor lead Bible Studies on Zoom on weeknights. The leader picks the biblical text or theme for each study. We have previously focused on Psalms, Mark, the parables of Matthew, Peace and Nonviolence in the Old Testament, Immigration in the Bible, Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, Advent, among others.
